Focus more on the evaluation of the product on the process. This is the invitation launched in Bari in conference “ By the quality of the product software producers and users “, by Aenor, the world leader in quality certification and SER & amp; Practices, University spin-off Bari and first Italian company to software quality, certified ISO 25000. The conference held last March 20 in Bari at Confindustria, the presence of major IT companies in the South, Order of Engineers and University of Bari, has placed at the center the need to identify opportunities for economic recovery through the use of innovative and competitive as quality certification.
The certification, in fact, is a tool that can strengthen ties and trust of all those who have dealings with a company and to demonstrate to customers the will of continuous improvement with respect to the attention towards their needs. And ‘The importance of certification in order to win the trust of domestic and international markets, in both the public and private sectors. Yet certification of software products is still low, because it considered complex and expensive, and the experience gained in computing from SER & amp; Practices , a spin-off of the University Bari proves otherwise.
Prof. Giuseppe Visaggio , Professor of Software Engineering at the University of Bari and president of SER & amp; Practices, defines the quality of the product as “the assessment of how a product meets the expectations of its users’” Given that there are different classes of quality of the software, users of IT solutions need guarantees on the quality of the products because of the increasing permeation of IT solutions in business processes and their increasing complexity. Therefore software vendors are encouraged to ensure the quality of its products for their competitive positioning and monitoring and control of the quality of their solutions. “
For manufacturers, therefore, the benefits of the evaluation of software quality are different and are the possibility to improve the characteristics of its product, to gain comparative advantage over the competition, ensure customers the quality of its product, but at the same time permit to reduce the cost of software maintenance, moderate the risks of regression in the evolution of the software and reduce the decay in time of the software. For users, however, the quality assessment is to improve skills acquisition and reduce the cost of acquisition and administration of the software.
