January 9, 2016 – In order to minimize errors during the weekend of the race, Mercedes will have in 2016 a new application, called Signals and Streams. This program will explore an immense amount of data and the race engineers will suggest the best countermeasures to be taken in relation to the events in the race.
Last May in Monte Carlo a confusing decision of the wall Mercedes, who called the leader of the race Lewis Hamilton in regime safety car, the race cost him the British driver, who showed much darkened at the awards ceremony on the third step of the podium. A 2016 target of Mercedes will therefore be to make the best decisions at the right time , and to do that the team based in Brackley can avail of an extra weapon, called Signals and Streams.
Last October, in fact, the Mercedes, in a joint venture with Tata Communications and Formula One Management, awarded the ‘ idea of Australian Paul Clarke , handing $ 50,000 and a trophy as the winner of the F1 Conneectivity Innovation 2015. The German team has highly evaluated the idea “Signals and Streams”, software that combines traditional web technologies with real-time analysis of data from the circuit.
With this application, the data can be sent instantly by factory engineers to track . The program consists of a part called ARROW (Artificial Recognize-React Orientated Worker) that will analyze the data and suggest decisions to make, and a call Streams on the instant communication of the data. The combination of all these elements will allow the team of Stuttgart to develop an impressive amount of data, giving it the ability to react immediately to situations that will arise during the competition.
From the site Mercedes come the words of the founder , Clarke : “ I’m a fan of Formula 1 since the early eighties, and I jumped at the opportunity to combine my experience in this type of technology with my passion for this sport. My goal was engineers and pilots to provide a modern approach to display the data and provide clear information, instant and intuitive “. Also Paddy Lowe is satisfied with this application: “This proposal has been distinguished by the creativity and approach in analyzing the huge volume of data that we generate during each Grand Prix and each session test. This project has a potential that will allow us to make better decisions by analyzing and displaying data in real time “. And situations like that of Monte Carlo will not be repeated. Until proven otherwise.
