The German group has presented the technical solutions to put the engines under the “rigged”: EA 189 engine 1.6 will install a “transformer flux”
ROME – Volkswagen has presented the KBA (the ‘ Federal Authority for Transport German) the technical solutions for the engines involved in the EA 189 Dieselgate , engine rigged scandal that forced the giant Wolfsburg richimare million cars worldwide are equipped with diesel engine capacity of 1.6 liters and 2.0 . Corrective aspects have been defined for most of the vehicles concerned and after implementation of technical measures, the vehicles will satisfy the requirements of emission standards in force. The final technical solution for the 1.2-liter diesel engine will be presented to KBA at the end of the month and is likely to include an update of the software.

Volkswagen informs that “technical measures developed for diesel engines 189 EA concerned were submitted to the KBA that, after careful consideration, has ratified. There is now clarity on the elimination of irregularities for the most number of vehicles involved. ” In practice EA 189 engine 1.6 will install a “transformer flux” directly in front of the air mass sensor. It is a grill that reduces the formation of air vortices, and consequently significantly increases the accuracy in the measurement of the flow. The meter of the air mass then determines more precisely the amount of intake air, which represents a very important parameter for the management of the engine in view of a process of optimum combustion. This engine will also run a software update. The estimated time for the implementation of technical measures is less than an hour. On engines 2.0 , the first to be finished in the eye, will be an update of the software , an operation that will take about half an hour. The German brand ensures that technical solutions designed will meet emissions standards without impacting on power consumption and performance.
The objective is to implement the technical update from January 2016 : on the basis of current valuations, all the measures within the action, for the different variations, will be implemented during the entire calendar year 2016. Volkswagen promises that the time required for the execution of technical solutions is as short as possible; all customers will be contacted and, in case of need, provided substitute car during the time necessary to updates. In late November, will be presented to KBA also the measures for the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder diesel engine.
