Toyota it has recalled about 625,000 Prius for software problem . The Japanese company, leader in the global market for hybrid cars, has announced that due to a malfunction in the system that manages the Toyota Prius vehicle could face overheating, with potential damage to the circuits. The Japanese brand has announced that the car could also go off suddenly. In a statement the company released more details about the car involved in the problem: it is the Toyota Prius V , known as the Prius Alpha in Japan and Prius + in Europe, produced between May of 2010 and November of 2014:
In the vehicles involved, the current settings of the software of the ECU, the electronic control unit may cause heat stress in some circuits, with potential damage. If this were to happen, it would go on several lights and the vehicle would come into a false security mode.
Of the 625,000 hybrid vehicles from Toyota recalled 109,000 have been sold in the United States. This is the Toyota Prius V. Other 340,000 hybrid cars have problems with their software have been sold in Japan.
Europe Toyota Prius called are instead 160,000. The owners of the recalled vehicles will have to turn to the nearest dealership to resolve the issue. The company has announced that the ‘ software upgrade will not involve any additional cost to customers.
