Us FCA has recalled 1.4 million vehicles in the US after two hackers violated the Uconnect of a Jeep Cherokee in 2014. The move was only precautionary and updating the software seems to be very easy to install

The recall was decided in response the attack of two hackers who have succeeded in their attempt to remotely control a Jeep Cherokee through its cellular connection. Although FCA has worked with Sprint to fill the gaps that emerged from the system, there would still be some vulnerability, according to Autoblog. For now, the owners of the recalled vehicles have three options for upgrading: to download it yourself, wait a USB stick by mail or pick up the vehicle and take it to a dealer FCA. But anyone with an internet connection and a USB stick with at least 4 GB of capacity will be able to speed things up by downloading the patch from Uconnect. The process should be very similar to that of other products the Uconnect 8.4-inch, it might just change the position of the USB port.
