– WhatsApp is discovered champion of privacy. After the controversy on the double blue tick, the most used in the world chat launches TextSecure, an open-source software to encrypt conversations and make them unreadable to anyone except the sender and receiver of messages. Behind this surprise turn could be the hand of Facebook, who has recently detected the messaging service that cyclically and is interested in the problem of security.

The company’s goal is eliminate the risk of interference, putting the conversations of users in a barrel of iron. The messages travel from one device to another in an encrypted format, with a key to which no one, not even the developers of WhatsApp, can access. Chats are decoded only after they reach their destination.

As reported by Wired, we are still in the preliminary stages of the project, which for the moment will only cover Android, with the exception of group messages, photos and videos. The news should not result in any modification to the normal use of the application.

You can find a previous service iMessage Apple, which had already experienced a cryptographic system messages, but had quite a few gaps.
