For HP, the software is the heart of the data center of the future – ictBusiness

This year is were many ads at the center of HP Discover, the traditional event organized by the colossus of Palo Alto to Las Vegas to meet with customers and partners around the world. Yari Franzini, HP Converged Infrastructure Italy country manager, sums up the Italian market the three major releases in the middle of the event, all in line with the current trend of convergence that is going through the infrastructure market. “These are three solutions, which are closely linked to our three pillar reference: cloud, software-defined data center convergence and increasingly pushed across servers, storage and networking” , begins Franzini, head of that from next November will become Hewlett Packard Enterprise, one of two companies resulting from the split planned to Hp.

The first announcement is related to the New features OneView, tool software -defined management through a dashboard that allows you to administer and manage the entire infrastructure with automated provisioning capabilities. Innovations concern, specifically, some functions of proactive monitoring and data protection. “ It is a fundamental tool for harmonizing corporate infrastructure more flexible: from concept to delivery of services, organizations are, in fact, required to accelerate their time to market to stay competitive” , clarifies country manager.

In this sense OneView 2.0 may represent a real strategic tool, as it allows all the flexibility required by the so-called “En economy”. “In this context” , said Franzini, “Our differentiator from its competitors is the availability of a complete portfolio, also made up of servers, storage and networking, three pieces that we did evolve time following the same logic software-defined “.

The second ad, certainly the most important one, is the storage area and in particular the offer flash , a technology that is growing in importance because it brings home customers greater efficiency and the opportunity to replace all legacy systems with more slender and modular infrastructure. In this case the evolution is all tied to the offer 3Par, specimens of which have been enhanced in order to meet the needs of industries such as finance, telecommunications and manufacturing. The innovations introduced lead to a reduction in the cost of capacity flash (which has now reached $ 1.50 per Gb) and include a new class of flash array highly scalable, in addition to optimized data services, capable of ensure reliability to 99.9999%.

In particular, the new family of systems StoreServ 3Par Storage 20000 aims to maximize performance with over 3.2 million IOPS (Input / Output Operations Per Second) and lower latency millisecond, occupying 85% less space than traditional high-end array. To support mission-critical workloads, systems technology flash HP also provides software optimized , ensuring end-to-end and balancing workloads without disruption.

“Compared to many startups that populate the segment, our differentiator is above all the ability to maintain the same data services throughout the entire data center,” , clarifies Franzini, announcing that the technology flash, for TCO and performance characteristics, will decree the end of virtualized storage. “ In Italy it are already well advanced in the process of consolidating all-flash, so that in Europe we are one of the three most important countries in terms of contribution to this business,” , he adds. It is a segment that now offer home HP already generates 60% of revenues storage, but that, according to its business plans, to be here in a year and a half will reach 80%.
