Pisa from the US: the podium software made in Italy for the machines … – Courier Communications

 Winning the US computing Pisa: Luigi Rizzo and Giuseppe Lettieri , respectively lecturer and researcher at the Department of Information Engineering of ‘ University of Pisa , received the Best Paper Award , prize for the best scientific work, the conference ACM SIGCOMM Symposium on Research Sdn , which was held in Santa Clara, California .

 The award was for ‘ mSwitch ‘, a software that allows communication between ‘virtual machines’, systems which derive a large part of the Internet service. “Already in 2012 – explains Rizzo – had developed a software switch entirely Pisan, called Vale and operating with a speed and efficiency up to 10 times faster than similar systems. Now ‘mSwitch’ extends Vale making it even faster and more versatile and both are the architecture ‘Netmap’, conceived and developed since 2011 precisely to meet the communication needs of networks to 10 gigabits and beyond in recent years has received over 200 citation and funding for more than 400 thousand euro. For over twenty years we distribute the results of our research as open source software, and our quality is very much appreciated that our software is part of a number of operating systems ( Freebsd , Linux , Apple , OSX ), as well as being used in commercial products. “
