The new formula of the slide pole position in May: the software does not … – Eurosport UK

The revolution promised by Bernie Ecclestone regarding the filling of the grid will have to wait … We were talking about the new system of qualifications and assignment of the pole position time between eliminations and heads-up, but it is all postponed: in Australia start with the old system. This was revealed by the same Ecclestone in an interview with The Independent.

“The new qualification will not start right away – says Ecclestone – We wanted to introduce it at the beginning of the world, but the timekeeping management software will not be ready by that date and then the new format will click presumably Spain , while in Australia we will proceed with the usual qualifications. ”

“It’s not just what I wanted – he explains – I’m trying to scramble the grid, making sure that the fastest non-shots at the stake. Maybe I reversed the order on the grid or a penalty in added time to reshuffle the cards, perhaps giving of the points for the qualification. ”

Do not take kindly insiders: the change will be borne by the FOM and not the FIA, but times are tight. “There is much work to do in the coming weeks – commented technical director of Williams Pat Symonds – for us and for Fom which must rewrite from scratch the software that manages the timing systems. Maybe they made a decision a little ‘reckless’ .
