A new software that plays in sequence, on the face of an Avatar in 3D, the different facial expressions such as joy, anger or surprise. It ‘a brand new project, which bears the signature of three children, all graduates, who have in common the Asperger syndrome , also known as the Autism High operation.
Massimo, Stefano and Federico live in Abruzzo and under the guidance of the team of Neurosciences of the University of L’Aquila, coordinated by Monica Mazza and the regional reference center for autism, directed by Marco Valenti, have succeeded in the enterprise to develop a software that aims to help all those children afflicted by their own problems.
The program developed by the three boys is based on a simple but brilliant Intuition: Avatar play on the screen will help those suffering from autism to learn to read the faces and feelings of the people, so as to be able, in time, to overcome these fears.
Autism at school: a software that will help teachers?
This is a ‘great invention’, we like to call it, which will help greatly also the work of teachers that, increasingly, unfortunately, you have to overcome these problems, with children and with students who see social relations as a dangerous enemy to be resisted constantly.
According to statistics in the eighties you could count 3 to 5 cases per 10,000 today, however, it can safely say that one child out of 150 develops some of the symptoms that can be regarded as being from autism, if you include the multiplicity of their causes ( genetic, allergic, infectious, toxic, neurological etc …).
Software to help children with autism: a project in experimental
The project Massimo, Federico and Stefano it is the first ever made in our country and is even among the first in Europe: a source of pride in more for these guys who have found the strength to come out of their shell, discussing, debating and, above capitalizing the most of their IT skills to achieve a software from the extraordinary potential.
The program is still being tested and was presented recently in L’Aquila at a conference on autism, which was attended by doctors and international experts.
