Fiat Chrysler has launched another campaign calling for the usual problem of information security regarding its system of infotainment Uconnect. Currently it applies only 7810 Jeep Renegade sold in the United States and equipped with 6.5-inch LCD panel; to be precise half it is still in showrooms.
Here grow counts vehicles updated in software. This summer Fiat Chrysler had done the same on 1.4 million cars at risk of attack. As is well known in June, two hackers security experts have shown that it is possible to take control of the car even wirelessly. The criticality of the systems installed by the giant Italian-American is to use software that until recently did not take distinct and protected functional services related to the operation of the car than entertainment.
However apparently were never registered accidents related to this type of problem and there were even complaints.
Today updating the application directly, via a USB stick delivered at home by Fiat Chrysler or by going to the dealer, any risk should be reset. There remains the question of the European market, but probably the systems used on Renegade sold here are up to date.
US customers can enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the online service activated for the occasion of driveuconnect.com/software-update and find out if they are affected by the recall.
