Microsoft, the software giant is 40 years old – Plaffo

On April 4, 1975 was born “Micro-Soft Company” initiative of two classmates, Bill Gates and Paul Allen, one of the most important companies in the world of computing, then became “Microsoft Corporation”.

During the 40 years of Microsoft, Bill Gates wrote a letter to its employees to thank them of their work and to talk about the challenges that the company will face in the future:

At first, me and Paul Allen have set the goal of having a computer on every desk and in every home. It was a bold idea and a lot of us felt foolish to imagine that it was possible. It ‘s amazing to think how far you push the computer since then, and we can be proud of the role played by Microsoft in this revolution.

Today, though, I’m thinking more about the future of Microsoft that the his past. I think the computer will evolve over the next 10 years more rapidly than has been the case until now. We already live in a multi-platform and computing will become even more pervasive. We are approaching the point where computers and robots will be able to see, move and interact naturally, making available many new applications and offering more opportunities to people.

Under the guidance of Satya, Microsoft is better positioned than ever to lead this progress. We have the resources and determination to solve complex problems. We are involved in every aspect of modern computing, and we have the deepest commitment to research in the field. In my role as technical adviser to Satya take part in the review of the products and are impressed by the vision and talent that I find. The result is evident in products like Cortana, Skype Translator and HoloLens – and these are just some of the many innovations that are coming up.

Microsoft has the opportunity to reach in the coming years a greater number of people and organizations throughout the world. The technology is still out of reach for many people, because it is complex and expensive, or simply because they have no ability to access it. So I hope you think about what you can do to make it accessible to anyone the power of technology, in order to put people in touch with each other and make personal computing available everywhere, although the concept of what the PC provides makes its way into all devices.

We did a lot together during our first 40 years allowing countless companies and individuals to realize their full potential. But what matters most now is what we will do next. Thank you for helping to make Microsoft a fantastic company now and in the decades to come.
