Software will give sight to the blind with sound – The Republic

echolocation to give sight to the blind through sound. This is the technique developed by startup Soundsight Training with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the Cern Geneva (European Organisation for Nuclear Research). It is a software that allows you to develop and train the ear to perceive and identify surrounding objects. A virtual reality sound that simulates the interaction of sound with different scenarios, giving the opportunity to the blind to learn how ecolocalizzarsi space. The technique can also be adopted by the able-bodied to increase self-perception in the environment.

In the short run a campaign crowfunding platform Kickstarter to collect the necessary 250 thousand euro to develop the prototype. The goal is to make the free software and open source from 2017.
