Google has developed a tool to solve the problem, at least on Chrome.
It’s called Software Removal Tool, and for now is only available in beta for Windows. According to the state from Mountain View, “scans and removes software that can cause problems with Chrome.” Once you have downloaded the software, install it and run it on your PC and monitor alerting you if it finds something suspicious.
It seems that the application is designed to be used if you have already noticed a problem, because those who have tried has been invited to reset the settings of Chrome it back to the initial state (but just click “Cancel” if you do not want to do this). The software removal tool can be used at any time.
